In 2004 he topped the Japan Golf Tour money list, and again in 2005. As of June 2005 he had won sixteen tournaments on the Japan Golf Tour. : Born January 31, 1973 - Ibaragi , Japan    

 

Biography

Shingo Katayama

Katayama has played in several major championships and World Golf Championships events, and his most notable achievement outside of Japan is his tied fourth place finish at the 2001 PGA Championship. He played the 3rd round with the champion David Toms. He was called "Cowboy Shingo" due to his distinctive cowboy-style hat.

He Became popular worldwide player at 2001 PGA Championship, smiling and joking on the way to a T4 finish. Displayed cowboy-style hat in performance.
